Join - PC/Mac

Join a meeting when you are using a PC or Mac.

When using a PC or Mac, there are two ways to join a meeting: either from your browser at join.me or from the desktop app.

Join using the website – join.me

  1. Open your browser and go to join.me.
  2. At the top of the join.me website, click Join Meeting.
  3. Enter the multi-digit code or personal link provided by the meeting organizer and click JOIN.
  4. Upon joining:
    • If you are the first person to join, wait for the others.
    • If a locked meeting is in progress, enter your name and knock to join.
    • If nothing is being shared, wait for the organizer to share their screen. The audio or video portion of the meeting may already be active.
  5. For meetings with audio or video:
  6. Options during a meeting:
    • Chat with all participants
    • Chat with any single participant
    • Send a file to any single participant

Join using the desktop app

Anyone on a PC or Mac can download the desktop app. It's like using the join.me website, but without a browser.

You need the desktop app in order to take control of the presenter's mouse or share your own screen.

  1. Download and install the desktop app.
    • For Windows (.msi)
    • For Mac (.zip)
  2. Launch the desktop app.
  3. Under join, enter the multi-digit code or personal link provided by the meeting organizer.
  4. Upon joining:
    • If you are the first person to join, wait for the others.
    • If a locked meeting is in progress, enter your name and knock to join.
    • If nothing is being shared, wait for the organizer to share their screen. The audio or video portion of the meeting may already be active.

  7. Additional options when joining via the desktop app:
    • Request presenter role so you can show your own screen. Available during meetings hosted by a LITE, PRO, or BUSINESS subscriber.
    • Request mouse control so you can move the presenter's mouse directly, as if it were your own. Available during meetings hosted by a LITE, PRO, or BUSINESS subscriber.
    • Request to annotate so you can mark up the presenter's screen. Available during meetings hosted on a PC or Mac by a PRO or BUSINESS subscriber.

Uninstall the join.me desktop app

The join.me desktop app can be easily removed from your PC or Mac.

Tip: Removing join.me does not cancel your subscription or delete your account. For info, see How to modify your join.me subscription.

In the Applications folder, find join.me and drag it to the trash.

  1. Use Add or remove programs to remove the join.me app.
    Note: For more info about removing programs in Windows, read the Microsoft support article for Windows 10.
  2. After uninstalling from Add or remove programs within Windows, delete the join.me folders listed in AppData.
    1. Press the Windows key and the letter 'R'.
    2. In the Run box, type %appdata% and press Enter.
    3. In the AppData > Roaming folder, find the join.me folder and delete its contents.
    4. In the AppData > Local folder, find the join.me folder and delete its contents.
